Lawrence G. BLASIK, MD
Dr. Lawrence G. Blasik and the staff at Blue Ocean Dermatology would like to cordially introduce our services to your community. We intend to offer general dermatology as well as dermatological surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. Blue Ocean Dermatology will also provide laser services. Dr. Lawrence Blasik Jr. has had over 30 years providing dermatology services. He has an extensive history in the development and progression of laser usage in dermatology. He has been President New Hampshire Society of Dermatology and the New England Society of Dermatolgy (of which included over 500 dermatologists). He proudly served four years in the U.S Air Force as an Internal Medicine physician and was attached to a strategic air command facility (SAC). He completed his medical school from The University of Illinois and his dermatology residency from the prestigious Ivey League, Dartmouth College. Dr. Blasik was Senior Clinical instructor at Dartmouth -Hitchcock Medical Center as well as a clinical staff dermatologist at Lahey Clinic; associated with Harvard Medical School. Dr. L.G. Blasik Jr. has served as part time assistant professor at the prestigious Tufts New England Medical Center at Boston for 6 years and Lahey clinic Berlington,Mass. Dr. Blasik is dual board certified in Dermatology and Internal medicine. He has had a solo practice in Boston, Massachusetts and Dover, New Hampshire for over 23 years after which he relocated to Brunswic, Georgia. He is excited to bring this knowledge to the residents of Volusia County. Dr. Blasik will also provide hospital consultations involving dermatology to the local hospitals, including Halifax.
Jason Welch is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. He obtained his Master's degree from The University of Central Florida. He has been a dermatology provider in New Smyrna Beach for eight years. He is both nationally certified as a nurse practitioner in Family Medicine and Dermatology.
Jason has an extensive medical background that began when he enlisted in the Navy as a Combat medic during Desert Storm. After leaving the U.S. Navy, Jason continued his valor and commitment by attending Florida State University and obtaining a four year degree in Nursing. Upon graduating from Florida State University, Jason was accepted into the highly competitive Critical Care Nurse Internship Program (CCNP) at Florida Hospital in downtown Orlando.
This nine month program consisted of an intense academic fellowship preparing the Nurse for the Critical Care Units. Each resident of this program attended daily lectures and classroom education that would ultimately prepare them to take care of critically ill patients including open heart procedures, neurological ICUs, and general pulmonary and medical Intensive Care Units. Jason spent five years as a registered nurse in the ICU at Florida Hospital in Orlando. Upon graduating with his degree as a Nurse Practitioner, he was privileged to work closely under one of Orlando's premier dermatologist for several years before practicing independently. He worked very close for many years with facial surgeons and general surgeons to further develop and enhance his skills at dermatological surgery. These experiences not only make him a better clinician, but they also provide him with the ability to adapt to any environment , critically think and problem solve in many situations.
Nitra Welch ARNP
Nitra Welch is also an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with an emphasis in dermatology in which she is nationally certified. She obtained her specialized degree from the University of Central Florida as well. Nitra has been a dermatology provider for eight years. She is also nationally board certified in Family medicine as well as national certified in dermatology. Nitra's pursuit in the medical career began in Alabama where she completed a four year degree in Nursing at Troy State University. Upon graduation in 1998, Nitra too was accepted into the highly competitive Critical Care Nurse Internship Program at Florida Hospital. She then became charge nurse for the progressive care and medical/surgical units at Florida Hospital. Nitra was also recognized by her peers as Nurse Preceptor of the year three years in a row. She also worked in the Intensive care units providing care for the critically ill. Nitra also began her training as a dermatology healthcare provider working closely with dermatologist and surgeons and dermatopathologist. With over 9 years of experience, Nitra possesses a high level of leadership, and devotion that make her a vital addition to Blue Ocean Dermatology.
Alina Collins, ARNP
Alina joined Blue Ocean Dermatology in 2015 after graduating with honors with her Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of Central Florida. Prior to obtaining her Masters Degree, Alina worked as a Registered Nurse in the critical care unit at a Level I Trauma Center for 8 years in Orlando, Florida. Originally from Ohio, Alina obtained her Bachelor’s in Science from Walsh University. During her dermatology rotation in NP school, Alina realized her passion for the specialty. She is compassionate to individual concerns and encourages patients to ask questions and to understand treatment plans. Her area of special interest is primary prevention through education about the risks and early identification of skin cancer.
Alina also serves on the Board of Directors for the Grace Alexander Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that raises money for cancer patients.
